June 2007 GPN Annual Meeting Presentation Demo of GPN VO Bioinformatics Tools
This May 31, 2007 presentation demonstrates the use of bioinformatics tools that are operating in the GPN Virtual Organization using the newly created VO Entitlement Server running in conjunction with the Shibboleth authentication services to provide fine-grained access to VO resources.

June 2007 GPN Annual Meeting Presentation GPN VO Fine-Grained Authorization
This June 1, 2007 presentation provides a description of a distributed Entitlement Server that is the middleware basis for making fine-grained authorization decisions in the GPN Shibbolized Virtual Organization environment. Entitlements are separated from identity providers and operates as a secure, third component of the AuthN/AuthZ Shibboleth authorization process by a Service Provider to provide fine-grained authorization decisions for resource access in a multi-institutional, multiple-policy VO environment. Entitlements are defined, managed and controlled by the VO rather than being part of an Identity Provider's eduPerson object class.

September 2006 Scaleable Computing: Practice and Experience: The Great Plains Network (GPN) Middleware Test Bed
This journal publication describes the GPN Middleware Test Bed ( SCPE 7:3,95-109, September 2006). Visit the SCPE Journal site at: www.scpe.org and get the full SCPE September 2006 issue at SCPE_7_3.

January 2006 MU Case Study Report: GPN: Integrating Shibboleth, Grid and Bioinformatics
This January 2006 case study final report describes the project and accomplishments made using supplemental funding to the University of Missouri-Columbia. The funds provided were under a supplemental award made to the Great Plains Network under the Educause/NMI-EDIT Extending the Reach program. This report extends upon the GPN: Building the Regional Middleware Infrastructure case study report and describes the implementation of a set of bioinformatics tools using NMI_EDIT middleware tools that include Shibboleth authentication and MACE-URN registered namespace to manage fine-grained authorization control for accessing grid computing resources in a virtual organization (multi-institutional) environment.

Fall 2005 Educause Presentation Combined Case Studies
This October 18, 2005 workshop presentation discusses the issues of Identity Management from a high-level matrix point of view using a set of case studies involving four Educause/NMI-EDIT funded middleware projects in the Extending the Reach program. This workshop is is described at the URL: Seminar 05P - Identity Management for the Rest of Us

Fall 2005 Internet2 Presentation NMI at Work
This September 22, 2005 presentation is a set of case studies that discuss the progress made by the four Educause/NMI-EDIT funded middleware projects in the Extending the Reach program.

June 2005 GPN Annual Meeting Presentation Integrating the Pieces
This June 10, 2005 presentation provides a case study view of using middleware tools that shows a working collaboration test bed for use by the Great Plains Network participants. This case study describes four authorization entitlements operating at two institutions to provide the basis for the intended collaboration in the GPN region. The Collaborative Identity Management Life-Cycle diagram not shown in the presentation can be found HERE

October 2004 GPN-ETR Group Presentation Shibboleth-based Authentication
This October 28, 2004 presentation provides an overview of using middleware tools to create a working collaboration test bed for use by the Great Plains Network participants. This is an early description of the Shibboleth authentication environment that the GPN-ETR group is using to create and manage resources operating in a multi-institutional, regional environment as a virtual organization.
